Buns from Home, a bakery that as the name suggests, originated from the owner's home kitchen, has flourished into a chain of over 5 stores across London. The Canary Wharf branch offers a varied and enticing selection of buns neatly displayed on a countertop in the small premise.
I opted for three distinctive bun flavours - the classic cinnamon bun, the Darjeeling tea and biscuit-stuffed bun, and the dulce de leche bun. Taking advantage of a deal (I don't know what deal it was, it just got applied at checkout), my total came to £9, with individual buns priced between £3.50 and £5. And, while not the cheapest, the cost aligns with typical London prices for freshly baked goods.
The classic cinnamon bun was enjoyable, though not significantly better than others I've tried. The dulce de leche flavour had layers of nuttiness and sweetness without being overbearingly sweet and the crunch of nuts sprinkled throughout. But, the highlight was the Darjeeling tea and biscuit-stuffed bun. Filled generously with a smooth, rich tea-flavoured pastry. The tea flavour was distinct but not overpowering - it was delightful, and the addition of a shortbread on top was a nice bonus. Overall the dough on all the buns was flaky and well layered.

While the buns were enjoyable, they didn't stand significantly above those from a typical M&S bakery. What does sets buns from home apart is its inventive flavour offerings and attractive packaging.
In conclusion, buns from home in Canary Wharf provides a quick and convenient sweet fix with inventive flavours. If you have a penchant for buns, you'll likely enjoy the experience, but equally will find the same in other quality bakeries in London.
6.8/10
Why did the cinnamon bun apply for a loan?
It 'kneaded' a lot of 'dough'
